Our Academies & Services

Spiral Partnership Trust is a learning community which includes six primary schools, out of school clubs and St Albans Plus, a local partnership provider. We also support the delivery of special needs support across the local area through DSPL7. We provide an interesting and engaging education to 1800 pupils and wider services to families in our local communities.

We continue to grow and are are delighted to have welcomed new schools to our Spiral family of schools.

Mandeville Primary School has grown from a small special measures school with less than 100 pupils  (Sept 2000) to an over-subscribed two form entry school judged outstanding by OfSTED in 2008.  This transformation has been achieved by creating a culture that prioritises learning at every opportunity.  Mandeville School is now an accredited National Support School, teaching and support staff play an active role in supporting other schools.

Chaulden Junior School is a local community school with approximately 170 pupils, predominately from the surrounding neighbourhood. It is an inclusive school which welcomes the diversity of backgrounds the children bring with them. The school promotes a rich, broad and engaging curriculum to inspire and motivate its children, exposing them to a variety of experiences that they may not have otherwise been subject to. The school believes this will help shape their aspirations in ways they may not have thought was possible.

The school houses a speech and language unit and has a good reputation for working with children with SEND. As a result of this, there is a higher than average number of children with a special need who attend the school. The school’s ethos is to welcome all children and to work with their families and support agencies to remove barriers to their learning, and to provide a positive environment in which to learn to the best of their abilities. The school also works closely with Chaulden Infants’ and Nursery School to ensure a positive transition to the school, for both the children and their families.

Fleetville Infant and Nursery School is a popular 3 form entry Infant & Nursery School with a community feel which reflects the diversity of the local community. Sixteen different languages are spoken in the school.  The school is committed to achieving high standards in an inclusive, nurturing environment where children are happy, safe and supported to thrive.  This results in well-rounded children who are keen learners.  The school has excellent relationships with parents and a very successful PTA who contribute to the children's experiences and enrichment of the curriculum.  Fleetville has been recognised for its excellent Early Years Practice and works very closely with Fleetville Junior School to ensure a positive transition for the children and families.

Fleetville Junior School is an oversubscribed 3 form entry Junior school judged as outstanding by OFSTED in 2011. It has a close working relationship with its link Infant school. The school values not only its consistent academic success, but also its provision of a secure and caring environment in which all children are happy, eager and motivated to learn. A strong commitment to partnership and teamwork are an essential part of the school's character.

Springmead Primary School is a two-form entry primary school that joined the Spiral Partnership Trust in April 2018.  Our values of 'Believe, Achieve, Succeed' are central to our everyday lives and are relevant to pupils and staff in all that we do.  Our vision is to support and develop our children into becoming fully rounded confident members of society who, when they leave us, have the skills and knowledge to take advantage of every opportunity that they are presented with.  We approach each day with the 'Springmead Way', centering around our central values of care, respect and self-control.  The whole school community follows these values in all aspects of school life alongside our learning values, which include being brave and taking risks, reflection, independence, creativity, collaboration and problem solving.

Mount Pleasant Lane Primary School is the latest school to join the trust. Mount Pleasant Lane is a 1.5-form entry primary school that joined the Spiral Partnership Trust in July 2018.  Prior to joining the trust there has been some changes at the school.  We are delighted to have appointed a new leadership team and new members of the teaching team.  Mount Pleasant Lane is a good school ambitious to be even better.

St Albans Plus is a Local Partnership that serves the schools and families in St Albans. It is driven by its commitment to improving life chances for children and young people. By providing access to emotional wellbeing, early intervention and extended services they are able to support families, enabling our children and young people to have better outcomes.  Vista aims to change lives and bring families together.

DSPL is a Hertfordshire-wide partnership approach where parents, carers, staff in early years settings and schools, further education colleges, local authority officers and representatives from other agencies, work together as part of an Area Group to ensure that there is a range of provision and support services available in their local community.

Spiral Partnership Trust aims to expand to take advantage of the efficiencies and economies of scale that can be achieved by growth but will remain small enough to be people focused, thus balancing the efficiencies of size with the stability and capacity to ensure sustained improvement.  We work closely with Herts for Learning and are an active part of all local networks and partnerships, putting us at the heart of the Hertfordshire family.
