Our Academies & Services

Spiral Partnership Trust is a learning community which includes five primary schools, out of school clubs and St Albans Plus, a local partnership provider. We also support the delivery of special needs support across the local area through DSPL7. We provide an interesting and engaging education to 1800 pupils and wider services to families in our local communities.

Spiral Partnership Trust aims to expand to take advantage of the efficiencies and economies of scale that can be achieved by growth but will remain small enough to be people focused, thus balancing the efficiencies of size with the stability and capacity to ensure sustained improvement.  We work closely with Herts for Learning and are an active part of all local networks and partnerships, putting us at the heart of the Hertfordshire family.

Fleetville Infant and Nursery School is a popular 3 form entry Infant & Nursery School with a strong community feel which serves a diverse local community. The school was rated Outstanding in December 2023 and is committed to achieving high standards in a positive, nurturing environment where children are happy, safe and supported to thrive.  This results in well-rounded children who are keen learners.  The school has excellent relationships with parents and a very successful PTA who contribute to the children's experiences and enrichment of the curriculum.  The school works very closely with Fleetville Junior School to ensure a positive and smooth transition for the children and families. The school's values, the 4Bees, underpin all aspects of school life and contribute to the positive and culture for the whole school community.

Mandeville Primary School is a thriving, two form entry primary and nursery school at the heart of a diverse community where children’s strengths and differences are acknowledged, represented and celebrated. Set in extensive grounds, the school is a modern, light and airy building with excellent resources throughout.  Mandeville is a forward-thinking school which uses national and internationally recognised research to provide an excellent education, developing confident learners who are empowered to find their voice in the world. We invest in the professional development of our adults and, as a result, enjoy the benefits of a highly skilled, stable staff who are often required to share their expertise widely with schools county-wide.  Our four values, “be kind, be brave, be involved, be a learner” are embedded in all we do with kindness as the cornerstone of our whole school ethos.

Mount Pleasant Lane Primary School is a 1-form entry primary school that joined the Spiral Partnership Trust in July 2018.  Mount Pleasant Lane is a happy, safe and vibrant learning community where we challenge and motivate pupils to learn. It is our belief that every child should have the opportunity to be the best they can be; to enjoy their schooling and achieve as well as they can. This is underpinned by our four core values:

We are kind

We are brave

We are responsible

We are learners

Learning is for life and we aim to give our children the best skills and knowledge possible to equip them for life beyond primary school. We understand the importance of promoting children’s wellbeing and mental health at all times; so that they can grow into healthy and happy people who contribute positively to society.

Springmead Primary School is situated in the Panshanger area of Welwyn Garden City.  Joining the Spiral Partnership Trust in April 2018 has led to continuously raised standards in all areas of teaching and learning by working with our outstanding Trust schools.  Our values of care, respect and self-control are central to our everyday lives and are relevant to pupils and staff in all that we do.  Our vision through our learning values of independence, teamwork, creativity, reflection, problem-solving and risk-taking is to support and develop our children into becoming fully rounded confident members of society who, when they leave us, have the skills and knowledge to take advantage of every opportunity that they are presented with.

DSPL is a Hertfordshire-wide partnership approach where parents, carers, staff in early years settings and schools, further education colleges, local authority officers and representatives from other agencies, work together as part of an Area Group to ensure that there is a range of provision and support services available in their local community.  There are nine DSPL Area Groups across the county that meet regularly to discuss what services are available and to influence how services are shaped and developed to ensure the children and young people with SEND in their area receive the right support in their educational activities.

DSPL7 covers the areas of St Albans and Harpenden, including the surrounding villages of Kimpton, Wheathampstead, Redbourn, Colney Heath, London Colney, Park Street and Bricket Wood.  Schools and families can access DSPL7 services if they live in these areas or have children who attend a school in DSPL7.  All our services are fully funded.
