Our Academies & Services

Spiral Partnership Trust is a learning community which includes four primary schools, two childrens centres and St Albans Plus, a local partnership provider. We provide an interesting and engaging education to 1300 pupils and wider services to families in our local communities.

We are delighted to be welcoming Mount Pleasant Lane Primary school & Springmead Primary School to our Spiral family of schools this summer.

Mandeville Primary School has grown from a small special measures school with less than 100 pupils  (Sept 2000) to an over-subscribed two form entry school judged outstanding by OfSTED in 2008.  This transformation has been achieved by creating a culture that prioritises learning at every opportunity.  Mandeville School is now an accredited National Support School, teaching and support staff play an active role in supporting other schools.

Chaulden Junior School joined Spiral Academies Trust in May 2013 and embarked upon a journey of rapid improvement.  Identified by OfSTED as requiring Special Measures in September 2012 the school has had a high level of support and made rapid progress. The latest Ofsted report (Jan 2015) identified many strengths and judged Chaulden Junior School as good in every aspect.  Feedback from parents and children is very positive and the attainment of pupils goes from strength to strength.

Fleetville Infant and Nursery School is a popular 3 form entry Infant & Nursery School with a community feel which reflects the diversity of the local community. Sixteen different languages are spoken in the school.  The school is committed to achieving high standards in an inclusive, nurturing environment where children are happy, safe and supported to thrive.  This results in well-rounded children who are keen learners.  The school has excellent relationships with parents and a very successful PTA who contribute to the children's experiences and enrichment of the curriculum.  Fleetville has been recognised for its excellent Early Years Practice and works very closely with Fleetville Junior School to ensure a positive transition for the children and families.

Fleetville Junior School is an oversubscribed 3 form entry Junior school judged as outstanding by OFSTED in 2011. It has a close working relationship with its link Infant school. The school values not only its consistent academic success, but also its provision of a secure and caring environment in which all children are happy, eager and motivated to learn. A strong commitment to partnership and teamwork are an essential part of the school's character.

Springmead Primary School is a two-form entry primary school that joined the Spiral Partnership Trust in April 2018.  Prior to this, Ofsted judged the school as requiring special measures in February 2017 and the school experienced significant changes in leadership as a result.  We are now on our journey to improvement with a new leadership and staff team, working closely with the other Trust schools.  Feedback from parents is affirmative and they recognise the new positive culture as going from strength to strength and the improvement in pupils' behaviour and safety.  The school continues to maintain a strong EYS and in the coming year improvements in standards will be secured across the school.

St Albans Plus is a Local Partnership that serves the schools and families in St Albans. It is driven by its commitment to improving life chances for children and young people. By providing access to emotional wellbeing, early intervention and extended services they are able to support families, enabling our children and young people to have better outcomes.  Vista aims to change lives and bring families together.

Spiral Partnership Trust aims to expand to take advantage of the efficiencies and economies of scale that can be achieved by growth but will remain small enough to be people focused, thus balancing the efficiencies of size with the stability and capacity to ensure sustained improvement.  We work closely with Herts for Learning and are an active part of all local networks and partnerships, putting us at the heart of the Hertfordshire family.
