What We Do

Spiral Partnership Trust provides support to both schools within the Trust and other schools that require temporary support with any aspect of school improvement.

How We Support Schools within and beyond the Trust

Both Mandeville Primary School and Fleetville Infant and Nursery School are National Support Schools. Amanda Godfrey, Cathy Longhurst & Androulla Peek are National Leaders of Education accredited by the National College of Teaching & Leadership (NCTL).  We provide a range of support working with headteachers, leadership teams and whole staff teams to support all aspects of school improvement.

Our first task when we support a school is to work with the teachers and leaders to identify their needs: Whats going well? What needs to be improved? A detailed whole school review prioritises teaching and learning needs, considers the staff, organisation and capacity of the school.  We use this information to create a clear focussed plan, ensuring every aspect of the plan is part of a co-ordinated plan.  Our knowledge and experience enables us to provide a hands on practical approach, sharing established systems we know work.

NLE/NSS support can be arranged to suit each individual schools needs, it can vary from working with an individual to whole school staff, for one meeting to a whole year.  We work with you to identify and support your school improvement needs.

Trust Governance

Schools which join Spiral Partnership Trust as part of the Multi-Academy Trust arrangements will join a trust which takes Governance very seriously.

The Board of Directors currently consists of 9 members plus the Executive Headteacher and Chief Executive Officer which are both ex-officio Director roles. The Board of Directors is selected to ensure an appropriate skillset for the Trust, providing a wide breadth of talent and expertise, which enables us to enhance the opportunities for our staff and pupils.

The core duties of the Board of Trustees and the Local Governing Bodies are:

  1. Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction

  2. Holding the Spiral Senior Leadership Team (SSLT) to account for the educational performance of the schools and their pupils; and

  3. Overseeing the financial performance of the Trust and its schools and making sure its money is well spent.

To achieve Spiral Partnership Trust’s objectives the Board of Directors are responsible for matters such as:

  • Policy development and strategic planning

  • Ensuring the sound management and administration of the academies

  • Ensuring that leaders are equipped with relevant skills and guidance

  • Ensuring compliance with legal requirements

  • Assessing and managing risk

  • Maximising potential synergies across the Trust

The Schedule of Delegation sets out the agreed governance structure, including the delegated powers to each Local Governing Body.  The responsibilities of the local governing body include:

  • Approval of school policies

  • Recommending the school budget to the Spiral Board of directors;
