The Trust Team
Our trust team is led by our joint CEOs; Androulla & Amanda, together they oversee a team that supports every aspect of school organisation;
- Kate Bell leads the business & HR team that support every aspect of the business of running a school business.
- The school Improvement Team includes Kate Fenner, Tess Hackett and Elaine Bridle, who support the quality of teaching and learning in maths, English and SEN across the trust.
- Kevin Byrne supports premises managers across the trust and Richard Sherwood provides IT support and technical services.
Amanda Godfrey - CEO, Director of Education
Amanda has led, improved and been influential in a number of schools, working as a Headteacher, School Improvement Partner (SIP) and National Leader of Education (NLE).
An understanding of learning is at the heart of her approach to education and leadership. In transforming schools she seeks to raise standards by ensuring every aspect of teaching and learning meets the needs of children and the local community. Achieving a transformation from special measures to outstanding has demanded a determined approach, a tenacious disposition, an expert knowledge of teaching and learning and wide range of skills in every aspect of school management and leadership. Amanda works with our headteachers to develop these skills in schools across the trust.
Androulla Peek - CEO, Director of Business
Androulla has 19 years’ experience as a senior leader and Headteacher in a number of schools. She has worked closely with the Hertfordshire school improvement team as a Hertfordshire Consultant Headteacher and, more recently, as a NCTL accredited National Leader of Education to support underperforming schools. Her belief is that strengthening the leadership of the schools ensures they are in a better position to drive improvement. She is committed to supporting ambition and improvement through coaching others and establishing organisational structures that allow all areas of school life and the quality of teaching to be well led and managed.
Cathy Longhurst, Headteacher
Cathy is passionate about teaching and learning and feels strongly that every child deserves and has a right to high quality education which is personalised to their own needs.
As a long standing member of the Senior Leadership Team at Mandeville, Cathy has helped shape the ethos and direction of the school on its journey from special measures to outstanding and as Acting Head Teacher at Chaulden Junior School prior to the school joining the Spiral Academies Trust.
Alex Lindley, Headteacher
Alex believes in creating a happy, caring and supportive school environment. She is passionate about inclusion and providing a climate for learning that enables every child to grow and flourish. Alex believes in the importance of collaborative relationships with parents, the local community and other partners to promote a shared understanding of education and care for all children. As a long standing member of the senior leadership team, she helped develop a creative, rich, flexible and balanced curriculum to optimise learning.
Bernadette Dempsey, Headteacher
Bernadette is committed to ensuring all pupils enjoy a rich and varied curriculum to stimulate a life-long love of learning. She believes that school should be a positive and empowering environment, where children develop the essential skills and knowledge to become confident members of society. Working with partners across the community brings opportunities to improve outcomes, promote better understanding and share values. She has worked collaboratively with parents, colleagues and professionals to develop links that benefit pupils and the wider community.
Gareth Linwood, Headteacher
Karen Cayford, Headteacher
Karen is passionate about putting the children at the heart of teaching and learning, believing that every child should have the chance to excel. An experienced leader in change and creating effective teams, she is proactive in working with other schools to share opportunities and exploiting chances to extend learning wherever possible.
Whilst the education of our pupils is the number one priority, Karen also strives to make the school a learning place for all. Supporting parents in supporting their children's learning is a key area of our continuing development, as is providing professional development opportunities for all our staff.
Vicky Burman, Headteacher
Vicky has worked extensively in both the primary and secondary sectors which puts her in a unique position to understand the future challenges for all pupils in her care. She is passionate about developing the whole child, encouraging them to be immersed in their learning so preparing them for the complex, interrelated world ahead. Having had many years of experience of senior leadership Vicky recognises the importance of collaboration and teamwork thus enabling staff and pupils alike to have the confidence to challenge themselves to become lifelong learners.
Vicky believes in the importance of strengthening community, not only by creating links and collaborating with other schools, but also by engaging parents, carers and other agencies to share expertise and ensure children’s well-being.
Kate Bell, Chief Finance Officer
Kate is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Advisor. Kate practiced in one of the world’s leading accountancy firms. She began in Audit & Assurance before moving to Tax where she advised companies from small owner managed businesses to large global organisations how to manage their tax affairs.
Kate is passionate about developing people and creating opportunities for them to grow.
Outside of work, Kate has two children and enjoys going to the theatre.
