Training to be a Teacher with Spiral
We are now recruiting our 2020 cohort of trainees who will begin training in September 2020, qualify as teachers in June 2021 and be ready to teach their first class in September 2021. If you are interested in training to be a teacher find out more on our training and apprenticeship page.
We are particularly keen to recruit new teaching assistants who would like to train to be teachers at some time in the future. If you have a degree, and would like to be a teacher, a teaching assistant job could be the first step towards your new career.

Fleetville Junior School is looking for new governors.
Everyone has the potential to be a governor. You will need:
- A passion to support every child achieve in education – committed to ensuring pupils have a positive and safe school environment
- People skills and the ability to work well as part of a team
- An open and honest outlook, with the ability to remain objective in order to come to balanced decisions
Specialist skills such as education experience, data analysis, human resources or health & safety are also beneficial to the role but not essential.
We work in partnership with the School’s Leadership Team to ensure the best possible all-round education is being provided for all pupils in a high quality learning environment, making the most of the resources available to the school and ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and procedures. Whilst the day to day management and operation of the school are the responsibility of the Headteacher, supported by the Leadership Team, governors have a strategic role and are required to hold the school to account for standards of learning and teaching and to provide constructive challenge and support.
The LSC has 6 formal meetings per year, one per half term. In addition to attending meetings, governors perform their work by visiting the school to observe and gather evidence and will contribute to working parties in order to progress specific actions when required

Business Support Apprentice - Level 3 Advanced
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Apprentice to become a key part of our friendly Central Office Function of a Multi-academy Trust of six primary schools in Hertfordshire. You will be reporting to the CFO and will be working closely with our current Apprentice and Human Resources Manager to run key aspects within both the Finance and Human Resources function. The role will provide a wide range of learning opportunities across a number of Financial, Business and HR disciplines allowing the role holder to gain a wealth of transferrable skills and experience.
The role holder will work with the Finance and HR team (including another apprentice) in the following areas:
•Learning to use a finance system (Sage) to record transactions and building up to running your own accounts ledger (i.e. doing bank recs, preparing month end etc.)
•Assisting with day to day queries from the school finance teams to help resolves their problems.
•Provide administrative support to the Trust’s Executive Heads to include helping with setting up meetings, taking phone calls, agendas, minutes and action logs.
•To provide relief support and assistance for the Trust’s schools’ administrative and finance functions on an ad hoc or emergency basis as required.
•Working with the Trusts’ HR manager to support and deliver the roll out of Access (HR system). This will involve answering day to day queries, providing advice for users, writing and designing system manuals and generating reports.
•Helping with the recruitment and data control for our teacher training programme within the Trust.
•Helping the HR manager with recruitment using social media channels, recruitment websites, Facebook and Twitter.
The position will mainly be based at both Fleetville Junior School and Mandeville Primary School, St Albans but occasionally the candidate may be required to work at other schools within the Trust.
