Training to be a Teacher with Spiral
We are now recruiting our 2019 cohort of trainees who will begin training in September 2019, qualify as teachers in June 2020 and be ready to teach their first class in September 2020. If you are interested in training to be a teacher find out more on our training and apprenticeship page.
We are particularly keen to recruit new teaching assistants who would like to train to be teachers at some time in the future. If you have a degree, and would like to be a teacher, a teaching assistant job could be the first step towards your new career.

Midday Supervisory Assistant
We are looking for an enthusiastic and caring person to join our dedicated Lunchtime Team. The role involves working with all children across the school for 1 hour a day (Monday to Friday) to support during the lunch period from 12:15pm to 1:15pm.
We are looking for someone who will be able to communicate effectively, encourage good behaviour, manage lunchtime activities with the children, deal with general first aid, health, safety and hygiene and work within a team.
The successful candidate will need to be reliable, committed and able to interact well with children and adults. The role will include supervision in the dining areas, organising and leading games, supervising play and supporting children to develop their social interactions. Full training opportunities will be given to the successful candidate.

Business Support Apprentice - Level 3 Advanced
We are looking for an Apprentice to become a key part of our Central Office Function of a Multi-academy Trust of six schools in Hertfordshire. You will report directly to the CFO and will assist them to run all finance and Human Resources aspects of the central office function. Your training at West Herts College will lead to an Advanced Apprenticeship in Business and Administration.
To provide financial and administrative support for the central trust function including:
- Recording all financial transactions using SAGE finance software.
- Allocate VAT as appropriate.
- Placing orders, processing invoices, checking to purchase orders and goods received notes, ensuring appropriate authorisation is in place.
- Managing payments as necessary.
- Process journal entries as necessary.
- Complete bank reconciliations and resolve related issues, if required.
- Undertake month end procedures as required.
- To provide relief support and assistance for the Trust’s schools’ administrative and finance functions on an ad hoc or emergency basis as required.
- Provide administrative support to the Trust’s Executive Head.
- Provide support for the Trusts HR function.
The position will mainly be based at Fleetville Junior School, St Albans but the candidate may be required to work at other schools within the Trust in particular at Mandeville Primary School, St Albans.
